The Value of Direct Communications

The abilities to pick up the phone, stand before a crowd or just strike up a friendly conversation are strong and highly effective direct source of valued information.  To share insights, ideas, anecdotes and concerns are what help create social fibers that cause our relationships or associations to grow.  At this point I expect that my Chairs Message to the UOAHC membership is becoming clear and sounding like a mission expressed some 8 years ago.

"It is the mission of the United Ontario Appaloosa Horse Council (UOAHC) to aid in the promotion and development of the Appaloosa Horse, Owners, Breeders, Trainers and related events across the Province of Ontario. This council will endeavour to unify and communicate the efforts of the Appaloosa Horse Club of Canada's Regional Affiliates in this Province. The ongoing goal of this council will be to reflect and advocate for a healthy, unified Ontario Appaloosa enthusiasm."

It takes as much or even more energy to pass over a person, group or association when communicating in the long run and this simple act creates breaches that can be long suffering.  The best remedy is to ensure that the lines of chat are open both ways, with the will to accept praise as well as criticism.  If, as a member of the Appaloosa Family, reaching out and having a positive effect is not your strong suit, look for assistance.  As a Province we are blessed with enthusiasts, past and current who have always been willing to give back a little, for the good of all.  Anna, thank you for our recent chat.  I’m certain we all know the old saying about “To assume...” Let’s not allow this to colour the exceptional efforts of everyone wanting to see our industry improve and grow.  One person having the ability to step forward with ideas for growth and development will benefit us all.  Wayne and Candace, a tip of the hat for your efforts.

So, for 2008 and looking forward to a United effort in 2009, bring a friend out to the shows this year, let them catch the fever, show spots and expand everyone’s collective experiences.

See you at a show
